The Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet has described yesterday’s headline in the Island Sun newspaper claiming that the Prime Minister’s security is at risk following a mass transfer of Close Protection Unit officers, as utterly false.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said, contrary to the news report, the Prime Minister is extremely pleased with the security arrangement provided to him and his family by the RSIPF Close Protection Unit officers in collaboration with the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands Participating Police Force.

It said, in fact, the Prime Minister and his family have never seen or experienced a lapse in the security arrangement.

The statement said any internal transfer of officers in the RSIPF is an operational matter for the police.

It says, overall, the Prime Minister is extremely satisfied with the level of professionalism displayed by the CPU officers assigned to him ever since taking office and would like to applaud the Police Commissioner for his competent leadership of the force.
