Police operations during the rioting and disturbances at the Julian Marley concert has cost over a million dollars for the force.

In her press conference last week, Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga said last week’s operation to curb the unrest cost the force almost more than a million dollars.

Matanga said about five police vehicles and other resources were damaged during the clash between officers and hundreds of young people on Wednesday last week.

She said more than 2-hundred officers were deployed and roadblocks were set-up at the eastern part of the capital Honiara.

She said it was a expensive exercise.

“In terms of the operation I will just give you a rough estimate, it’s more than a million dollars. When you look at the human resources we deployed, the logistical things we used , the cost of food, it’s a very expensive exercise just for a particular operation.cise. And that’s what people need to know. That when we are running into such a situation like this, it is a very very expensive exercise”, said Mrs. Matanga.
