The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) must gain public confidence before it can successfully manage any public disorder.

Participating Police Force Commander Greg Harrigan made the statement last Friday before a collective capability display by members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force at RAMSI’s GBR base in Honiara.

The display was witnessed by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and his Cabinet Ministers and other senior government officials.

The PPF has been training the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force to manage any public disorder in the Solomon Islands.
Commander Harrigan says it is crucial to gain public confidence in the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force before it can successfully manage any public disorder.

“The capacity of the RSIPF in some key fields that deal with the public that should give you confidence and in their ability to manage more than the day-to-day business is what we are looking at.”

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force capability display last week involves a combined fire and rescue and public order management display.
