The Leader of the Parliamentary Independent Group Manasseh Maelanga says Solomon Islands needs to recognise the plight of the West Papua on the grounds of solidarity and humanity.

The Independent Leader told SIBC News today it is one thing to recognise the diplomatic sovereignty and as a Melanesian country, Solomon Islands understands the issues faced by West Papuans.

“I would like to call on the government, I think today it’s time for it to carefully consider the issue of West Papua.”
