The Premier of Rennell and Bellona Province, Lency Tango has called on the Ministry of Home Affairs to support his provincial government.

He made the call in Honiara following the appointment of the province’s new Provincial Secretary, Peseika Baiabe, a Science Graduate from the Fiji-based University of the South Pacific.

Mr Tango begged the Ministry of Home Affairs to recognise his province despite it being a very small one.

He says, the Province is happy now that Renbel has a new Provincial Secretary, adding it still needs a treasurer and funds to effectively run the province.

Meanwhile, Mr Tango reiterated his earlier claim that a foreign logging operator on Rennell continued to destabilize his government.

He adds, the police and the media have not helped with his efforts to ensure his province is properly governed.

Premier Tango says some police officers are under the whim of the logging operator.
