S.I.E.C WORKSHOP BELIEVED THERE’S ROOM TO IMPROVE

The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission’s ‘Lessons Learnt’ workshop in Gizo believes there’s room to do better.

The workshop brought together election officials from across WesternProvince and Choiseul with the aim to identify areas where SIEC’s processes and practices can be improved.

Speaking at the close of the workshop, Chief Electoral Officer, Polycarp Haununu thanked the electoral officials for their input and for their hard work during the National General Election.

Mr. Haununu says field officers did a great job throughout the last electoral cycle – the challenge is to build on this success.

Meanwhile, Derald Michael, the Returning Officer for South Vella LaVella constituency says the workshop was an important step for theSIEC.

Mr. Michael adds, by discussing these challenges, there can be hope for improvements.

The SIEC Media office explains, the Gizo workshop marks the completion of a program that had seen meetings in Auki, coveringMalaita and Central Province, and in Honiara covering Guadalcanal, Honiara, Isabel, Makira, Rennell and Bellona and Temotu.
