Students at the Solomon Islands National University were told to go back this morning following the cancellation of their orientation.

SIBC Stringer Gabriel Riotarau reports, many students were very disappointed the event was cancelled.

Riotarau also reports, there is concern that academic classes at the National University may not start on schedule.

He says a University official told students their orientation was cancelled.

“A SINU employee came out and called the students this morning while they were waiting around the classrooms and getting them under a shade and told them that student orientations cannot go on due to some unresolved issues. He said the fact that the pavilion gates are still locked and the PA system not set up are clear indications that there would be no orientation.”

When contacted late this afternoon, the office of the SINU Vice Chancellor said the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Glynn Galo was unavailable to comment as he was away in a meeting.

SIBC News hopes to get a response from the Vice Chancellor tomorrow.
