The Solomon Islands National Teachers Association (SINTA) has announced it has given the Government until March 19 to address teacher’s leave passages and housing allowance payments.

The Vice President for SINTA, Phillip Ika announced the date during a radio talk back show at SIBC last week.

The SINTA Vice President also said the Association welcomes any negotiation by the Government to address the issue before deadline.

“With the deadline given by SINTA which is March 19th, it’s a date that SINTA would like to work towards it to achieve this housing allowance and leave passage issues with the government and with the resolution already submitted to the government we want to negotiate with the government. We believe in discussions, we believe in negotiations to reach the benefits that SINTA deserves.”

The SINTA Vice President also said he urges the Democratic Coalition for Change Government to consider the issue in its 2015 national budget.

SIBC News understands the National Teachers Association made a submission on teachers leave passages and housing allowances last month.
