S.I.V.B OPTIMISTIC ABOUT BETTER WASTE MANAGEMENT, ENERGY SAVING
The Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) is optimistic, better waste management and energy conservation are crucial for the development of Solomon Islands Tourism Industry.
SIVB Director of Tourism, Barney Sivoro made the statement after his delegation visited waste management and energy conservation system of Thai resort island, Thailand.
Mr. Sivoro says he is hopeful, the Solomon Islands tourism industry adopts some practices successfully implemented by Thai Resort.
He says, the practices are simple yet bring lasting economic benefits on ‘micro’ and ‘macro’ levels as they benefit the environment and the country as a whole.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau Josefa ‘Jo’ Tuamoto says SIVB needs to discuss the important initiative with the local tourism industry.
Mr ‘Jo’ Tuamoto adds this is to find ways and methods in which small-scale renewable energy sources and waste management practices suitable to the Solomon Islands tourism sector.
SIBC News understands Solomon Islands tourism officials including Director of Tourism, Barney Sivoro and Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) Chief Executive Officer, Josefa ‘Jo’ Tuamoto made the statement after participating in a key ‘Promotion for Sustainable Development’, a tourism sector study in Thailand.
