The Director of San Isidro Care Centre at Aruligo and Selwyn College School Principle have received an outboard Motor and 40 horsepower engine each, worth more than 1-hundred thousand dollars yesterday.

The donation was made possible through funding from the Turkish Government.

Speaking in a short ceremony yesterday morning, Yoshi Sato who handed over the items explained that the idea was materialised after he received a request from the Director of the National Disaster Management Office Loti Yates, after four bridges in West Guadalcanal were destroyed by the April floods this year.

National Disaster Council Chairman, Dr Melchior Mataki on behalf of the Turkish government through Yoshi Sato said the boats will not be useful only for disaster, but other times as well for the two institutions.

The cost of one boat is 69-thousand 2-hundred dollars and the 40 horsepower heavy duty, 36-thousand 4-hundred dollars.

Meanwhile, speaking on behalf of the two Principles, Brother George Van Der Zant, Director of San Isidro Care Centre said they were extremely thankful for NDC and the Turkish government through its representative Yoshi Sato for the donation, which will really help them.

He said his Centre’s boat will be used to promote the Centre to communities such as Weather Coast, Savo and Gela.

Brother George said the donation is timely.
