SI embarked on Taro and Cassava export

The Solomon Islands is now embarking on exporting cassava and taro products.

The Minister Foreign Affairs and External Trade-Hon Jeremiah Manele told Parliament this morning while explaining the budget support of over 2 million dollars allocated for his Ministry for the next financial year.

Answering a question by the Leader of Opposition-Hon Matthew Wale, the Minister explains, this is limited and excludes other potential agricultural products like Noni and Kava.

“This project is focused mainly on Casva and taro as decided by the National Trade and development.”

The objective of the project is to expand the national economy and employment opportunities.”

SIBC News understands, the World Trade Organisation funds the project and is managed by the National Trade and Economic Council.
