The Solomon Islands National Provident Fund has donated 60-thousand dollars towards the disaster relief work in response to last week’s devastating floods.

The fund’s General Manager, Tony Makabo handed over the 60-thousand dollars cheque to the Chairman of the National Disaster Council, Dr Melchior Mataki and Director of the National Disaster Management Office, Loti Yates this week.

Twenty-three people were killed and thousands are homeless following flash floods in Honiara, Guadalcanal and surrounding provinces.

In a statement, Mr Makabo says he hopes the donation would assist the Government’s disaster response in providing assistance to those that have suffered.

The NPF General Manager also expressed the organization’s sympathy with families who lost their love ones and properties as a result of the terrible disaster last week.
