Sogavare: talk records and policies please

OUR party parliamentary wing leader calls on other political parties to talk about policies and track records, and not engage in defaming others.

OUR party parliamentary wing leader, Manasseh Sogavare who is also the care- taker Prime Minister made this call last week at the OUR party launching at Henderson, East Honiara.

Sogavare pointed out that we must grow up and move beyond this kind of politics that breeds disunity, violence and hatred, he added.

The care- taker PM further stated that spreading lies, promotion of provincial hatreds, character assassination and racism is corruption as well.

The OUR party parliamentary wing leader pointed out that “corruption is also defined as the process by which a word or an expression is changed from its original state to one regarded as erroneous or debased”.

These parties that have resorted to defaming others are actually delving into corruption, the care- taker Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare said.

The OUR parliamentary wing leader pointed out that certain political parties also promoted the notion that only certain Provinces have hosted national projects while others have not.

Sogavare said that one does not have to be a rocket scientist to identify the underlying reason for other Provinces to be left out from national projects- it has to do with land disputes.

He added that besides land disputes, geo- politics has been used as well to hinder national projects from progressing in certain Provinces.

“We have to stop these!” the OUR party parliamentary wing leader strongly stated.

Sogavare urged political parties to be realistic in their policies, and stop making big promises that they cannot deliver.

He further lighted that the simple message from OUR party led Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) is that we have mature leaders who have given their all to protect this country at the most challenging times in the recent past.

Sogavare pointed out that OUR party led DCGA has the track record to prove its worth in delivering even in the most difficult times in the history of the country. If we can deliver under challenging circumstances, we can deliver more after April 17th.
