Solomon Cup games cancelled, as heavy rain hits Honiara

Flooding along the Kukum Highway

Heavy rain has flooded sections of East Honiara and cancelled today’s Solomon cup matches, with more heavy rain expected today and over the weekend.

Numbers of cars and public buses travelling to the CBD were surrounded by water this morning, with some sections of the Kukum highway looking more like a river.

Solomon Islands MET service put out a heavy rain warning this morning, which will continue for the next 48 hours.

It warned boat owners, and drivers to take extra precaution over the weekend.

SIBC contacted SIFF who confirmed the two games scheduled for today were cancelled and rescheduled to a later date which is yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile games for tomorrow will continue, weather dependent.
