The Solomon Forest Association (SFA) has come to the aid of the National Referral Hospital, paying the full cost of freight charges and associated costs for a shipment of much-need hospital supplies and equipment from New Zealand.

In a statement issued in Honiara, the SFA said it remitted about $37,000 to ‘Take My Hands’, a registered charitable trust, which is coordinating the supplies in New Zealand.

The money remitted would go towards paying freight and handling charges for a 40-foot container being loaded with hospital bedding, wheelchairs, crutches and other materials for the National Referral Hospital.

The statement said the SFA decided to make a one-off donation after it was approached by the Office of the Prime Minister for assistance.

The partnership goes back a long way and SFA is pleased to provide the assistance for the NRH in support of its vital service to the community.
