Solomon Islands and PNG determined to see vibrant bonds nurtured and expanded for the betterment of the two nations and people

Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare, MP, briefly met his Papua New Guinea counterpart, Prime Minister Hon. James Marape at the Honiara International Airport this afternoon.

Prime Ministers Sogavare and Marape used the brief meeting to update each other on policy directions espoused for their nations.

Pacific Games preparations, SI-PNG border security are among bilateral and regional priorities discussed. 

The key message that stood out during their discussion was the determination to see the vibrant bond of friendship between Solomon Islands and PNG nurtured and expanded for the betterment of our countries and people.

Ongoing cooperation and collaboration between the two countries are mainly in the areas of Education, trade, security, social and economic development, judiciary and investment as well as through the Melanesian SpearHead Group, Pacific Islands Forum and other regional and international bodies in which both countries are members. 

The PNG Prime Minister was thankful to Prime Minister Sogavare for making time today to meet him although briefly at the Honiara International Airport.
