The Archbishop of Canterbury – the most Reverend and Right Honourable Justin Welby has arrived this afternoon.

The Church of Melanesia’s media unit confirms, the Most Reverend Welby is in the country on a low key visit.

It says, the trip is to meet with the Archbishop of Melanesia, the Most Reverend David Vunagi.

A brief welcome ceremony was hosted by Bishop Vunagi at the Honiara International Airport to welcome the four member delegation this afternoon.

The right honourable Welby will be visiting the Governor General Sir Frank Kabui, Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo and the British High Commission tomorrow morning.

He will spend tomorrow afternoon at the Melanesian Brotherhood headquarter, Tambalia, West Guadalcanal.

The Archbishop of Canterbury is accompanied by his wife Carolyn Welby, Bishop Nigel Stock and an advisor.
