Solomon Islands first woman diplomat, Joy Kere will be hosting her first official Solomon Islands national day celebrations in Wellington, New Zealand tomorrow.

In an email to SIBC News, Dr Kabini Sanga in Wellington described tomorrow’s event as historical saying it will be hosted by Solomon Islands first woman High Commissioner, and the first resident High Commissioner to New Zealand.

Dr Kabini adds this will be the first public activity of the recently established Solomon Islands High Commission in New Zealand and will be attended by diplomats, government officials, industry and community leaders in Wellington.

He says there will be official speeches from both the New Zealand Government and Solomon Islands Government, and guests will be entertained by ‘Are’Are panpipe music played by Solomon Islands students studying in New Zealand, led by Paul Awaikera.

Tomorrow’s celebrations are to commemorate Solomon Islands thirty-sixth Independence Anniversary, which fell on July 7.

It will be held at The Wellington Club.
