The Honiara City Council said teachers who wish to get refunds for their leave passage should consult the Solomon Islands National Teachers Association and the Education Ministry – not the City Council.

In an interview with SIBC News, Deputy Mayor Eric Tema explained that teachers leave passage is under the Ministry of Education and SINTA.

He said teacher’s leave passage last year was also provided by the Education Ministry and SINTA.

“At this point of time we still think that any refund of sea fare or plane or what, you have to go back to the ministry or even SINTA to settle it because your leave passage last year, SINTA and ministry provide everything because of their discussion the money was paid to meet your fares to your home and when you return you have to come back and discuss with ministry or SINTA”, said Mr. Tema.
