UN Resident Coordinator undertook brief courtesy visit to PM Manele

The United Nations Resident Coordinator for Solomon Islands, Fiji, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu Mr. Dirk Wagener undertook a brief courtesy visit to Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele MP this morning.

Commencing the brief meeting, UN Resident Coordinator, Wagener acknowledged Prime Minister Manele for his foresighted leadership and robust alliance with the United Nations, especially UN Agencies on the ground.

Mr. Wagener assured Prime Minister Manele that the United Nations is more committed in its service now more than ever.

With key strategic plans in place, UN is elevating its profile and strengthening its capacity in Solomon Islands.

Mr. Wagener further confirmed UN’s continued commitment to supporting Solomon Islands achieve its Climate Change related National Development Strategy and Sustainable Development Goals.

Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele MP appreciated the UN Resident Coordinator’s support to the leadership of the Government for National Unity and Transformation.

Prime Minister Manele thank UN for continuously maintaining high-level advocacy in government efforts to address Climate Change impacts.

Solomon Islands values its relationship with UN and its agencies in the country, highlighted the Prime Minister.

PM Manele encourages UN to seriously consider establishing a resident office in Solomon Islands.

He adds, Solomon Islands looks forward to UN’s partnership when it will host a number of regional and international high- level meetings in 2025.
