Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare  expresses satisfaction on the outcome of yesterday’s meeting between the Leaders of the Pacific Small Developing Island States and the United States on the issue of Climate Change in New York.

Prime Minister Sogavare says, the meeting concluded with a resolution by the PSIDS Leaders to speak with one firm voice on climate change as agreed upon in the Suva Declaration on Climate Change.

The Suva Declaration emanated from the recent Pacific Islands Development Forum held in Suva, Fiji.

The Suva Declaration on Climate Change calls for the reduction of the earth’s temperature to 1.5 Degree Celsius based on scientific evidence that any dramatic warming of the earth’s temperature would further increase sea-level rise and brittle the reef ecology.

The three largest emitters of Carbon Dioxide according to last year’s record are China, US and India.
