The unstable weather pattern in the country is the long-term effect of the El Nino season experienced since late last year ending May this year.

The Solomon Islands Meteorological Services (SIMS) confirms.

Deputy Director of Meteorology Lloyd Tahani told SIBC’s “Distaem Nao” Program today the country will still experience effects associated with the past El Nino though a normal climate condition has been forecasted for the country.

“We are still experiencing a lagging effect of the El Nino so the rainfall that we recieved in June across the country is mostly below normal for our islands.”
