VILLAGERS AND LEADERS STRONGLY CONDEMNED ATTACK

Community and Village leaders in West Guadalcanal have joined forces to strongly condemn the recent attack on Brother George Van der Zant.

Brother George, the Director of the San Isidro Care Centre, was attacked and robbed at his house at the Centre in Aruligo, West Guadalcanal last week.

West Guadalcanal Chiefs, elders and leaders held a meeting to discuss the incident yesterday.

At the meeting, Provincial Assembly Member for Tandai Ward, John Nano condemned the attack of the San Isidro Care Centre Director, saying Solomon Islands is fortunate to have someone with a big heart for people with special needs in Solomon Islands.

“Where this happens belongs to people around Solomon Islands, even some of our brothers and sisters are in there. Those people are very special people in our lives, they have always been ignored in our lives, we often forget to recognise them. We are so fortunate to have someone like Brother George, who has a big heart for the country in keeping and helping these little ones, bringing them up in education”, said Mr. Nano.

The Provincial Assembly Member also called on communities in West Guadalcanal to work together to apologise to the San Isidro Care Centre Director for the attack.

The meeting was attended by West Guadalcanal chiefs, elders and a representative from the Prime Minister’s Office.

SIBC News understands the police is currently carrying out investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
