Marist FC Coach Jerry Sam says his team is one to beat in Oceania Champions League group D games in Honiara.

Sam said even without the presence of foreign players and coach, he is confident his side will produce good results in Honiara.

Marist FC will have some additional strength considering the home crowd is well known to the region to be intimidating especially for the visiting teams in every regional football events.

He said he will be banking on his local players and is confident given the level of preparations they had.

Sam added that he is looking forward to a good contest tomorrow.

“Team Wellington knows we are without our head coach, Juliano, and the Brazilian players, but we have recruited local players for this championship,” he said.

” We know they are a good team, especially with the experience they had, Our main focus is the first game but we understand everyone wants to win.”

Meanwhile Team Captain, Henry Fa’arodo ushered the same sentiment, stating the he is excited about the first game tomorrow against his former club, Team Wellington.

Fa’arodo said this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for some of the boys in the team to play against such top teams.

He said this is the first time in a long time to play an O League match for a home team in front of his own people.

“I have mixed feelings in tomorrow’s game against my former club but I’m excited,” he said.

“I told the boys to seize the moment and make use of every opportunity

For tommorow’s match fixtures, the first game at 1pm will be between Lupe Ole Soega and AS Magenta, while Marist FC takes on Wellington at 4pm.
