H.C.C LEADS SURVEY ON WASTE CHARACTERISATION
The Honiara City Council is currently leading a waste characterisation survey in Honiara.
The survey began last Monday and is supported by the J-PRISM and JICA Project, and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology.
Senior Health Inspector in the Honiara City Council Environment Division Ella Rizwold told SIBC News about the survey in an interview today.
“We took waste produced from different residential and commercial areas and analyse them at the dump site, like getting their measurement, find their volume as well as different types of waste. With this, we aim to get data on identifying the amount of waste produced by each person in a household in one day.”
The waste characterisation survey is being carried out by Honiara City Council volunteers and staff and will end tomorrow.
