Well known Solomon Islands Businessman and owner of the Pacific Casino properties, Patrick Leong has died early this morning.

A post on the Forum Solomon Islands (FSII) page by its Chief Executive Officers, Benjamin Afuga confirmed Mr Leong passed away at his home in Honiara.

Late Leong is a natural citizen who started in the gaming business in the 80’s at China Town before moving to build his current property when the government passed a law that all Casinos must have accommodation.

Leong had fought cancer for a long time and died peacefully at his home.

His Pacific Casino properties was one of the victims during the 2006 riots when rioters looted, ransacked and burned, but he rebuilt them within less than two years.

Mr Afuga described the late Leong as a man who has helped build the country’s economy and employed thousands of Solomon Islanders.
