The Provincial Minister for Commerce, Trade, and Investment in Makira-Ulawa Martin Karani says the provincial government will take tougher actions on unpaid business licenses in the province.

A quarterly review of the province’s financial status revealed it has suffered great revenue losses from uncollected business licenses.

Martin Karani told SIBC News the Provincial Government will now take tougher actions against business operators who are reluctant to pay up their provincial licensing obligations.

“The province will now take tougher actions and I must warn business operators that you must be prepared to face undesirable consequences if you are caught. I think in the past operators have managed to avoid and maybe escaped, but now we are putting up strong measures to try and counter those who are trying to operate illegally within the province.”
