Premier of Western Province Hon. Robert Pae Kuve has resigned.

This was confirmed in a letter received by the Speaker of the Western Provincial Assembly Hon. Richard Tekefono yesterday.

In a brief interview with SIBC Gizo, Mr. Tekefono confirms, he received the resignation letter yesterday afternoon.

The Premier’s letter sighted by SIBC quoted the Premier as saying, he resigned due to his critical health condition.

The letter says, after considering all forms of assistance and advice rendered to him, and for the future of the province and its people, he tendered his resignation in compliance with the requirements of the Provincial Government Act, 1997 to take effect forthwith.

Meanwhile, the speaker also confirms, his assembly office has as of today issue a seven days notice to all 26 members of the Western Provincial Assembly for an assembly sitting and election of a new Premier next Wednesday 10th August 2016.

Premier Robert Pae Kuve took office in late October 2013 under the theme, “Alliance for Rural and Reform Development” government.
