The Western Football Association (WFA) has taken over keys to the JFK soccer stadium in Gizo, Western Province.

Association President Robert Ringeo told SIBC News, a short handing over of the keys took place yesterday afternoon.

He says the simple handing over of the stadium keys was witnessed by all parties involved in the stadium project.

“The simple program that we have will involve the four main partners of this particular project and that is the contractor contracted by FIFA to build this stadium and that is Fair Trade Limited and of course the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) officials will also be here and then the Western Provincial Government representatives and the Western Football Association. The program will begin at 2 pm with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU).”

Meanwhile, Mr. Ringeo adds it takes a good sporting facility to ensure sports development in Western Province.

“As far as the development of sports – in this case, soccer – is concern, to better run a good football activity, each provincial football association needs good facilities, especially playing fields on which the game can be administered and with the handing over of this facility to the Western Football Association, I believe that the development program already put in place by the Western Football Association will find its home and activities will grow from there.”
