One of the first female Provincial Police Commanders (PPC) Patricia Leta is encouraging all females who take up policing as their career to effectively carry out duties equal to their male colleagues.

Speaking through RAMSI’s sponsored radio program, Talking Truth, early this week, Ms. Leta says female officers can also make strategic changes in their workplace.

“If the men can do it then what’s wrong with the women? We, women, can also impact change in the workplace so I would like to encourage young women who are thinking of making policing as a career must have to put extra commitment in their work perform like their male colleagues, so it doesn’t mean that only males can do the work, we all have the ability to do the work that we’re vested in doing.”
