The National Referral Hospital is not aware of any deaths directly associated with blood shortage at the National Referral Hospital.

The Hospital’s blood bank continues to experience blood shortage.

In an interview with SIBC News, Medical Superintendent Dr. Rooney Jagilly says, he is not aware of any ‘blood shortage’ related deaths recently.

Dr. Jagilly says, unfortunately, the blood bank has not met the required volume of blood through its blood collection program.

He explains, as a result, the hospital has to postpone a number of surgical operations awaiting blood supplies.

The Medical Superintendent is calling on the public to come forward and donate blood to save precious lives.
