In a statement, the women groups call on the Members of Parliament, the Provincial Premiers, Church Leaders, Chiefs who govern the leadership of Solomon Islands as a nation to resolve this issue peacefully without prolonging it.

“We also call on our youths to refrain from looting and burning down of businesses and private properties, and to allow for a peaceful dialogue seeking peace and restoration from our leaders.

“We are also concern so much about incoming peacekeeping personnel that cannot take COVID 19 quarantine process due to the urgency of salvaging peace. Therefore, further delay to restore peace and normalcy will only add more troubles for our citizen especially women and children, people with disabilities who are much more affected and become victims of the situation,” the statement said.

They strongly appeal to four women MPs to make decision that considers the lives and safety of children, people with disability, women and the men who have already face the challenges this instability has brought them.

“That is the impact of the sudden lockdown that has many families get on without preparation and shortage of food and other household necessities,” the statement concludes.
