YOUTHS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS TRAINED ON FARMING
Seven young people with special needs are currently enrolled in a youth farmers training programming at Zana Tina Organic Farm at Burns Creek.
The arrangement is part of the SPC Youth At Work PLUS Program.
The youths began their two months training at the Organic Farm last week.
A statement from Youth At Work said the training will involve earning from expert Dr. Shane Tutua and his staff, how to start an organic farm in their own homes.
They will also have practical sessions to assist local farmers in the nurseries and the field.
Speaking on behalf of the youths, interpreter Stella Damutalau and Anna Sasau said the youths have backgrounds in farm work, but the skills and techniques they are learning is something new and more useful.
