SIBC,
VOICE OF THE NATION
The
Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation
SIBC
was established by an Act of Parliament, the Broadcasting Ordinance
1976. It was established to provide a high quality broadcasting
service by radio [or television] of a wide range of programs for
the information, education and entertainment of all peoples living
within the sovereign borders of the Independent State of Solomon
Islands.

SIBC was
etablished to:
- Maintain
a broadcasting service with high technical standards and high
quality radio programs;
- Develop and
sustain an organisation culture reflecting professionalism, unity,
creativity and pride;
- Facilitate
educational programs, and recording and promotion of local and
contemporary music;
- Maintain
a radio broadcasting service that promotes unity in a scattered
island nation with diverse cultures;
- Achieve and
sustain financial self-sufficiency;
- Remain a
public service broadcaster.
SIBC's headquarters
are at Rove in Honiara, which incorporates the studios for the national
service, Radio Hapi Isles and the Wantok FM service. Its two provincial
stations are Radio Hapi Lagun at Gizo in the Western province and
Radio Temotu at Lata in Temotu Province.
SIBC has seven
departments; Programmes & presentation, News & Current Affairs,
Sales & Marketing, Finance, Enterprises, and Technical.
