The Magistrate’s Court has released an eighty-year old grandfather from Isabel Province accused of indecently assaulting his grand daughter from custody this morning.

The accused’s lawyer applied for bail because of the accused’s very old age.

Earlier police prosecutions told the Court they will oppose bail, but this morning they agreed to the bail application.

The accused’s second born daughter is acting as his surety, and he will reside with her at Lungga and report two days a week to the Henderson Police Station.

The accused was ordered not to interfere with witnesses or the police investigation.

He is charged with one count of indecent assault- an offence he allegedly committed in December last year against his 14-year-old grand-daughter.

The case will appear again in the Magistrate’s Court on the 26th of this month.
