The National Government is seeking tourism support from private sectors and local communities to successfully develop the country’s tourism industry.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture John Wasi made the statement during his key note address to open a Tourism Stakeholders Workshop at Mendana Hotel in Honiara yesterday.

Mr Wasi said the government is now developing its medium and long term strategies to create more foreign exchange earnings, create more jobs, and to promote environmental and cultural protection and conservation in the country.

SIBC News understands, the workshop is part of Solomon Islands Tourism for Inclusive Development (SI-TIDE) which was approved by the European Investment Fund (EIF) Board in January this year.
