Cultivating positive attitudes towards development in the tourism industry is crucial says Barney Sivoro, the Tourism Director of the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau.

A press statement from the Bureau says Mr Sivoro made the statement during a recent Tourism Awareness Workshop for immigration officers and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.

The Tourism Director said positive attitude is crucial to stimulate excitement and interest in the tourism industry which can lead towards helping to raise the level of customer services delivery in the industry.

Mr Sivoro adds tourism is a people’s industry meaning that in order for it to flourish to become a major revenue earner for Solomon Islands, the attitude must be adopted throughout the country.

Meanwhile, the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau CEO Josefa Tuamoto says the police and immigration officers are the first faces tourists meet when they step off their aircraft at the Honiara International Airport and they must always create a vital first impression.
