Over 2-hundred solar panels are set to be distributed to three wards in North Malaita.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy delivered the set of solar panels under the Japanese Tech Pacific Environment Committee fund.

SIBC Stringer in the area, John Andrew Kiri says the solar panels arrived at the Mbita’ama Harbour on Thursday.

Kiri reports the panels are 126 watts and will be delivered to ward six, seven and eight of north Malaita.

“The first lot of 126 Watts solar panels totaling up to 427 has arrived at North Malaita via MV Carishma at the Bita’ama harbour on 30th November 2013. The second lot of 126 Watt solar panels totaling up to 290 has arrived on Thursday last week or the day before yesterday via MV Lavusi,” reported Mr Kiri.
