Plasticwise Gizo wins Commonwealth award

Plasticwise Gizo has won two prizes in the recent Commonwealth Litter Programme, CLiP, The Pacific Litter challenge.

The winners were announced yesterday at the Pacific Regional Conference on marine litter in Vanuatu.

Plasticwise Gizo won the first prize in the Entrepreneurs, Micro to small business innovation competition and won second prize in the Adult Art Competition category.

Other Solomon Islanders also picked up prizes in the five category competition.

Principal Investigator leading the CLiP Project in the Pacific,Thomas Maes commended Solomon Islands and Vanuatu for working together to tackle the emerging issue of marine litter.

He said a unified vision and an action plan is needed to develop ways to stop marine litter in the ocean.
