Central Islands Province is the first to become an agent to sell the long grain rice imported by the Solomon Islands Ports Authority’s (SIPA).

Premier Selwyn Mapuli told SIBC’s ‘Distaem Nao’ program today, Central Province has taken the lead as the first agent of the newly imported rice.

Mr Mapuli acknowledged the Ports Authority for taking the initiative.

“I just like to render my sincere acknowledgement to the Chief Executive Officer of the Solomon Islands Ports Authority Mr Colin Yow his very determined colleague directors of SIPA for taking the initiative in importing the cheaper rice in Solomon Islands to be accessed by low-income earners as well as the majority of our population living in the rural communities of this country.”
