The Small Malaita Shipping Services Limited has commissioned its second vessel, the MV “Mala Mwai Mwei” in Honiara today.

MV “Mala Mwai Mwei” was successfully imported from Japan with the support from the government grant under the 2013 budget and the Small Mala Shipping Services Limited for more than SBD$4 million.

Speaking during the commissioning Member of Parliament for Small Malaita Rick Hou says the vessel brings a historical achievement for the people of Small Malaita.

“This is particularly important not only to this Shipping Company but the people of Small Malaita Constituency. It is historic and a milestone achievement.”

The MP assured the people to abide by marine and vessel regulations to ensure an effective shipping service for them.

“For the vessel to continue an effective service for us it needs to earn money, so there is no such thing as a free trip or unpaid freights cannot be allowed but must be stopped.”
