MINISTRY OF HEALTH OPTIMISTIC IT CAN ADDRESS ZIKA VIRUS OUTBREAK
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services says it is optimistic it can successfully address the current Zika outbreak in the country.
Zika is a mild viral illness transmitted by mosquitos and health authorities have already confirmed at least one positive Zika infection this week.
Under Secretary for Health Improvement Dr Chris Becha told a Press Conference in Honiara this week, the Ministry can address the outbreak with public support.
“We are very confident and I think the main message is if you support us you know, then we are confident to overcome because we got success stories that we overcome, previously about the measles outbreak we know that eventually we don’t have any cases now, dengue, so I think we are resource poor, but I acknowledge that.”
