2017 HONOURS & AWARDS ANNOUNCED

The Governor General Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui has announced the 2017 Honours and Awards in his New Year’s Eve message.

The Honours and Awards are duly recommended by the Honours and Awards Committee, approved by the Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare and endorsed by Her Majesty the Queen.

“Officer of the British Empire (OBE); Neptune Alegana LopuĀ for long and dedicated service in education as a teacher, community development and service to the Government and the Christian Fellowship Church. Joyce Mary Halu for long and dedicated service to the Government and the people of Solomon Islands as a nurse.”

Sir Kabui adds, for Member of the British Empire (MBE) medals; Moris Waria for long and dedicated service to the government as a Marine Officer and in church and community development, Mrs Hazel Pitavavini Boseto for long and dedicated service in government, community and United Church, Peter To’osi for long and dedicated service in government, church and community.

And for Queens Police Medal (QPM); Paul Kaia Bulu for long and dedicated service to the Government, police and community.

Recipients will officially receive their medals during the Queen’s Birthday celebration in June.
