The Member of Parliament for Lau Mbaelelea Hon. Augustine Auga has denied being arrested by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.

Reacting to a Police story about his arrest over the national service this afternoon, Hon. Auga admits, he was called by police only for questioning but not arrested as claimed by the media.

The Police Media Unit had confirmed, Police Detectives invited Hon. Auga to Naha Police Station yesterday and formally charge him in relation to “Common Assault” and “Intimidation.”

Police add the MP is released on bail.

However, in a phone call to SIBC News late this afternoon, Mr. Auga maintains, he went home after his meeting with Police officers.
