LEADER OF INDEPENDENT CONVEYED ANNIVERSARY WISHES
Leader of the Independent Group in Parliament Dr Derek Sikua wished the Government, Opposition Group, Church Leaders and the People of Solomon Islands a happy 38th independence celebrations.
In a statement, Dr Sikua appeals to all Solomon Islanders to persistently commit ourselves wholly in making Solomon Islands, our nation, a truly independent country.
He said being independent is free from dependency to self-reliance, free from influence of others and make independent decisions.
It also means a free from cargo cult and treasure hunt mentality and start cultivating the land, and seek God’s divine purpose for our nation as predestined by God.
Dr Sikua said it is his prayer for the country to rise up from the shackles of impoverishment to prosperity.
He urged Solomon Islanders to seriously conceive this day as an unique opportunity to refocus and recommit to our organic mandate, and destiny in all fronts to be a truly independent nation of Solomon Islands.
