The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources has extended the proposed ban on harvesting

in the country from 30 April to 31 May, 2019.

Director of Fisheries, Edward Honiwala had confirmed.

He said the Ministry would finalise a Gazette for the extended ban this week.

“We are in a process of gazetting a order, ” he said.

“A prohibition order should be gazetted this week, so we pulled back to the end of May to close the harvesting.”

He said all exporters of the marine product have until the end of June to sell off their products.
