Increased bilateral cooperation has topped the agenda during talks between the Foreign Ministers of Solomon Islands and Indonesia over the weekend.

The Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi was in Honiara only for the Saturday.

During her brief stopover, she held discussions with her Solomon Islands counterpart Milner Tozaka in Honiara.

A Government statement says the two leaders discussed how to increase cooperation between the two countries, particularly, through capacity building and technical support.

The statement also said both Ministers have agreed to accelerate a number of Memorandum of Understandings in areas including development cooperation, visa exemption for diplomatic and passport services, and the education sector.

The Indonesian Minister’s visit to Solomon Islands was also to affirm Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and contribution towards the development in the Pacific region.
