There is a continuing need for everyone to work together to address barriers to gender equality.

Alicia Kenilorea of the UN Women Solomon Islands Office made the statement today in relation to the 2015 theme for International Women’s Day.

Mrs Kenilorea said this year’s theme “Empowering Women and Girls in Solomon Islands – Making it Happen” highlights the important role women are already playing in the development of Solomon Islands.

She adds the theme also highlights the continuing need for everyone to work together to address barriers to gender equality.
