The Parliamentary Bill and Legislative Committee has requested the Office of the Prime Minister through a checklist to provide supplementary information on the Anti-Corruption Bill 2016 and the Whistleblowers Protection Bill 2016.

This is to give background information on the two bills, how they were drawn up, their consulted report and which people are consulted.

Chair of the Parliamentary Bill and Legislative Committee Connelly Sandakabatu says this should provide broader understanding on the Bills for scrutinizing.

“We’ve requested the Prime Minister’s Office through a checklist to give us more information on this Bill. For instance, the report background of the Bill, how it was drawn up and the consultance report on the Bill, who were consulted and their views and so on, to give the Committee a broad understanding of the background to the Bill so that it gives the committee members a good information as to what the background is, which aim to do so that we can be able to do our job well as a committee to scrutinizing the Bill.

The Anti-Corruption Bill 2016 and the Whistleblowers Protection Bill 2016 will be deliberated on by the Bills and Legislative Committee in Parliament next week.
