The current impasse over the country’s Finance portfolio may be put to a cabinet vote this weekend after Prime Minister Manasseh Damukana Sogavare failed to make a decision this week.

This comes as the Ministry of Finance and Treasury portfolio and that of Police, National Security and Correctional Services remain unfilled.

It explains as the Prime Minster has failed to make the appointments to the posts today the cabinet will decide on who should fill them next week.

SIBC News understands the Finance portfolio is being sought after by Snyder Rini and Mathew Wale, who is understood to have dropped his claim for the Deputy Prime Minister’s post in the hope of winning Finance.
